A NOTE FROM ME…

We live in a culture that glorifies an impossible god of perfection and instancy. One swipe through my feed on IG unfolds scenes before me of perfect composition, final products impeccably styled. Authenticity, time, the story behind each image flattened into a single 3:4 frame.

I wonder, What can I contribute to this visually saturated world without ingratiating myself to it with the noise of a yet another perfect picture? For me, I have learned that the journey is the most important part. The past couple of years has shown me that as humans who long to connect, it is instinctive to drop anchor somewhere we think looks like home. But we also have a natural need to move our bodies, to explore, which often times leads to new beginnings. Forward movement is rarely if ever a straight line. Sometimes a walk around the block brings more forward momentum than you could ever imagine. The evolution of a home you designed to feel one way and then had to redirect and start all over midstream to get it right. Being stuck in the mud doesn’t feel like progress until you see from a new perspective that the only way out is through. The single fathers and former refugees crafting cabinets and laying exterior siding are part of this creative journey. It takes courage to start over and embrace the journey. Those stories are the ones that shape my creative process, give breadth to the perfect picture, and help me welcome the false starts, the rewrites, the sequels.

Whatever fresh start or pursuit of a new perspective has brought you here today, know that this is a place where we celebrate your journey and I am so glad you are here. It is such an honor to create for you, and to be part of your story.

Testimonials

“When we bought our new home in Bel Air, Taryn steered us away from wood grain ceramic tiles toward the beautiful wide-plank blond oak floors we have now, and we couldn’t be happier that we listened to her!” - Daisy Fabian, Bel Air

“Taryn‘s furniture layout for our tricky backyard situation was a game changer, we now enjoy almost every dinner in our backyard oasis.” - Daisy Fabian, Bel Air

"I leveraged Taryn’s expertise for a value engineering consultation with a condominium I had in escrow earlier this year.  She was able to provide budgetary figures and timeframes for the upgrades immediately which saved me a tremendous amount of time had I done the research on my own.  Taryn’s wealth of knowledge in construction and design is an invaluable resource that everyone buying a condo or home should tap into.  I only wish I had her involved with the various homes I’ve purchased before!” - Ed Vukmirovic, Hermosa Beach

“Taryn flew out to value engineer a condo I bought in downtown Austin. Over a short weekend trip, she put together a $20k budget, 4 week project timeline, she interviewed 3 local contractors and hired the one we ultimately went with, she sourced finishes including my (still) gorgeous hardwood floors, custom blinds I can control from my cell phone, paint, light fixtures, new cabinet and door hardware, and general design concept going forward. She then communicated with my GC to manage the renovation of the condo through its completion despite being back in LA. I couldn’t be happier with my home, and my condo recently appraised for 20% more than what I bought it for.” - Rebecca, Austin, TX
